Founder Profile

Hajime Yamanaka
Hajime Yamanaka is a graduate of the Tokyo Univeristy of Foreign Studies・Faculty of Foreign Studies where he studied the Korean Linguistics. He was also an international exchange student at Taiwan National University's School of Foreign Language Studies (2000-2001).

Work experience: Vodafone (Marketing Researcher), Bacardi (Brand Manager), BAT (Brand Executive), McCann Ericson (Account Director), Ultrasupernew (Account Director).
Hajime launched hy(x) as of February 2020 and is also a branding producer for Japanese media-outlet, COURRiER Japon.

Community Contribution

  • - Working as a member of Certified Non-Profit: "Good Aging Yells".
  • - Support for Tokyo Rainbow Pride's committee to participate in Taiwan Pride (2017)
  • - Facilitating Pride House Tokyo's invitation to Amsterdam Canal Pride Parade, the first ever organization to participate from the Asia-Pacific region (2019)

Contracting Process

POLICY

Upon choosing projects and business partners we ask ourselves:

  • - Will this help combat discrimination and prejudice?
  • - Will this help improve social well-being?
  • - Will it help protect the environment?

The above factors are an important criteria for the projects that we prepare.

In relation to LGBT marketing, we only accept requests from companies which apply to one or more of the following:

  • - A history of donations to LGBT community efforts
  • - Experience volunteering for LGBT community efforts
  • - Companies which have an LGBT anti-discrimination policy
  • - Companies which provide the same benefits for both heterosexual and same-sex couples.

Regardless of company performance, 3% of all annual profit will be donated to NPOs/NGOs that are dedicated to solving social issues.
